My Favourite Book

Thank you for sending in your child's favourite story this week. We have enjoyed hearing them retell the stories and telling us what was
their favourite part. We are endeavoring to read all the stories at the end of the day, so if your child is happy to leave their book at school we will send it home as soon as we have shared it with the class.

In literacy we made our nursery version of Brown Bear Brown Bear what do you see?  I was impressed by how independently the children worked to decorate their flap and find their photo to stick on their flap. Well done nursery. We have enjoyed sharing the book during the morning.

In maths we thought about numbers in the environment and
went on a number hunt around the school to see what numbers we could find.

In RE we thought of someone we would like to say thank you to God for. We met Grannie Bernie who helped us write out prayer.

Next  week we are thinking about Autumn and on Friday nursery will join the rest of the school for Harvest Festival to which all parents are welcome.
On Monday we will be going on an autumn walk in the school grounds and during the week we will be doing lots of autumn art activities as we explore different  textures and what happens when we mix colours.
Our letter of the week is "i" and our rhyme to help us remember how to write the letter is "Down his body and dot for his head" (insect picture)
Here are a few of the other things we have done this week.

I hope you all have  a lovely weekend

Welcome to Nursery

A very warm welcome to the nursery blog. I hope you will enjoy reading the blog and finding out a little more about the different things your child does each week in nursery.
It is difficult to believe we have only had two weeks as the
children have  settled in so well and we seem to have done so much!
Thank you for all the family photographs you sent in last week.
We had some fantastic speaking (and listening) from the children as they talked about their photos. Next week we are thinking about our favourite books . Please encourage your child to bring in a favourite story to share with their colour group. We
will try to read as many of them as possible over the week.

In RE this week we learned the actions to a Bible verse which reminds us we are all precious to God. The children helped decorate a large heart with flowers. Over the next few days we all painted a picture of ourselves. These are on display in the classroom.

In phonics we went on a listening walk around the school to discover what sounds we could hear.

We also learned the rhyme and action to our sound of the week which was "a"
In literacy we thought about stories that have a repeated refrain and enjoyed joining in with the refrain in the 3 little pigs and Owl Babies. Next week we will be making our own book Nursery, Nursery, who do you see? ( Our own version of Brown Bear,Brown Bear what do you see|?)
In maths we thought about repeating patterns and made some of our own using the peg boards. As you can see a very busy week.

In PE we moved in time to a tambourine and a drum. We are getting really good at taking our shoes and socks off.

Here are some of the other things we have done this week.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend
