Our Family

Over the past two weeks the children have continued to settle well. We have been introducing them to new parts of the Nursery routine and different activities and resources.
This week the children have been sharing their family photos. Please do send one in if you have not yet had a chance to do so. We have made a display of them in the classroom for the children to enjoy. We have been talking about how many people are in our families and the sorts of things we like to do together. The children have also all enjoyed decorating a person and drawing a picture of themselves.

Last week the children all had their first PE lesson, going into the main hall. Here they are in action.

They did really well listening to instructions on how to jump, hop and skip in time to the music. Well done Nursery.
We have also enjoyed our first sessions with the ipads.
In RE we have started a topic on Myself. This week we have been listening to some words from the Bible that remind us that God loves each one of us. We decorated the words with finger prints and tried to remember some of the words in the Bible verses.

As you can see we have been very busy.
Here are a few of the other things we have enjoyed doing over the last two weeks.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend,
Jill Clarke

Settling In

A very warm welcome to all the new Nursery children and their families. We have had a wonderful first week and the children have all settled very well. They are starting to get to know each other and each day are finding out a little more about the Nursery week.
Here is what a day in Nursery looked like this week:
The day begins with a short fine motor activity where children can start to develop the muscles they need to hold a pencil.

Then we have had a carpet time where we have played some getting to know you games.
After that we have had an extended session of "learning through play" where the children have started to explore the Nursery resources.

During learning through play the children have been introduced to the snack routine.

We have also had some fun in the outside area.

At the end of the morning we have spent some time singing some familiar songs and starting to learn some new rhymes and then ended the day with a story.
Next week we will be continuing to learn about the Nursery routine and our theme for the week will be My Family. Please could all children bring in a picture of their family which will be used for a small group activity. We would like to keep the photos for a display in the classroom but if you would prefer that we made a copy please let a member of staff know.
The sheet for signing up to have a chat about how your child has settled in will be on the table outside the Nursery door.  Please sign up for a slot with your child's key worker.
Finally, Lourdes Hall  have been in touch to say that they would be grateful if parents did not park over the entrance to the small car park at the side of the building as it is in use all day. Thank you for helping with this.
We hope you have all had a lovely weekend.
