Wow, what an exciting and busy time we have had in the last couple of weeks!
Reception and Nursery children teamed up for a Space day. It started with an amazing BLAST OFF as we watched Space rocket launches and listened to Tim Peake talking about his time at the International Space Station. We all became trainee astronauts and had to prepare ourselves physically with a number of outdoor challenges – the trampoline jump was by far the most popular! We made rockets – all different shapes and sizes, some were made with fruit (Thank you to Sebby’s Mum for helping with this one), explored moon sand, created telescopes and experimented with planet volcanic eruptions!
We enjoyed a super French Day – learnt some French – Bonjour and Au revoir - and made French flags. We enjoyed croissants at snack time. We all thought they were délicieux.
This week we have celebrated Chinese New Year, first we learnt what Chinese New Year is and how it is celebrated. We watched a wonderful video with a Dragon and Lion dance, and learnt how to say Happy New Year in Chinese Cantonese. We created our own dragon dance with musical accompaniment. We used books, puppets and small world animals to learn about the Chinese New Year story and were engaged in a so many interesting Chinese crafts and activities. There was lots of perseverance and some success using chop sticks! Issy’s Mum came and made Chinese Mochi cakes – a strawberry Chinese dessert. Thank you so much! It was so much fun!
Here are some more photos of other things we have done.
